February Post
February started with our monthly radio interviews on the Star FM and 2WG stations. We are fortunate to have been allocated a spot on the first Monday of every month – so please tune in if you would like to hear all about our adventures.
On February 4th, we both had the pleasure of meeting His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley at the Mayoral Reception in the Art Gallery, Civic Centre. We enjoyed being part of the official welcoming party and having the opportunity to talk to the Governor of New South Wales about the Miss Wagga Wagga Quest!
On February 14th, Melissa had the honour of judging the "Best Dressed Gumi" at the annual South Wagga Apex World Championship Gumi Race. There were lots of amazing Gumi rafts to choose from, but the army rafts were a standout - with the RAAF plane coming out as a deserving winner! It was great to see so many people at Wagga Wagga Beach embracing the beautiful weather!
We both attended the Welcome to Defence event on February 20th at the Oasis Centre. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to meet other people from around Wagga Wagga while promoting our beautiful city.
On February 27th, Melissa held a Masters BBQ to raise money for her workplace – Kurrajong Early Childhood Intervention Services (KEIS) as a local celebrity in the upcoming Wagga Wagga Takes 2 (WWT2) fundraiser. Her fundraising and singing rehearsals are now well underway, with WWT2 quickly approaching at the end of April. These fundraisers include;
- March 5th - Bunnings BBQ
- March 31st – Sheep Drive
- April 2nd – Bush dance
- April 3rd – Fitness in the Park
- April 8th – Charity Golf Day at Wagga Wagga City Golf Club
Please let Melissa know if you would like more details regarding these upcoming fundraisers by email ([email protected]). Watch this space for more details over the next few months!
We would like to continue to join the local community at as many events as possible throughout 2016. If you would like us to attend your special event, please do not hesitate to contact us by email ([email protected]). We welcome every opportunity to be involved in our beautiful community.
Applications are still open for new MWWQ entrants to take part in the 2017 Quest. The MWWQ is one unbelievable journey of personal growth. It is always hard to put yourself on the line and take a big step out of your comfort zone - but it is always worth it. We cannot recommend this experience enough for any young women in the community who are considering entering! For an application form, please head over to the MWWQ website - www.misswaggaquest.com.
