As we wave goodbye to June and enter the second half of 2017, we find that each month leading up to November’s Crowning is getting busier and busier. It’s been fantastic to have a constant flow of invitations and events to attend as titleholders and recently events have been that little bit more special with the addition of the 2018 entrants also in attendance.

Sarah put on her dancing shoes once again on June 3rd, when she appeared as a backup dancer for local ‘celebrities’ in the show So You Know You Can’t Dance. The show was held as a fundraiser for local charity and 2017/18 MWWQ beneficiary; the Specialist Medical Resources Foundation (SMRF). Sarah was also given the honour of awarding the winners their hard-earned trophies on the night.

On 8 June, Jes wound up her radio ‘fill-in’ duties with her last show on HIT93.1 before Whitto’s new host, Herbie, took the reins. The radio stint was an extremely fun experience and it was great to engage with the public in a more casual format. It’s especially great when a month later people are still letting you know that they heard you on their morning drive to work! Special thanks to Whitto and HIT93.1!

As all good things must come to an end, Thomas Bros. Wagga Wagga Takes Two was no exception. June 15 saw the titleholders attending the Union Hotel for the official cheque presentations. This presentation saw each celebrity’s charities be provided with the hard-earned funds from the WWT2 experience. Sarah raised a total of $30,500 for the Wagga Women’s Health Centre and Jes raised $23,333 for SMRF. All together the amazing cast and crew raised an incredible total of $479,561.65 for 12 local charities in Wagga Wagga. This production was hands down one of the best experiences we have had and if anyone has the chance to be part of the show, we couldn’t recommend it more! A final huge thank you goes to Narelle Potts and the WWT2 Committee for all their work and commitment to such an amazing cause. We can’t wait to see next year’s show and relive all the amazing moments from our time in Wagga Wagga Takes Two.

On 17 June the 2018 entrants began their fundraising efforts with a trivia night. The night was an incredible success with fantastic reports all round! We had the pleasure of drawing the raffle and choosing the best dressed table – which was quite a job in itself! We are extremely proud of the effort the entrants put into the event and commend them on a fantastic turnout! We are both so excited to attend their next event which is a Local Tasting Afternoon at Borambola Wineries. Click here for more information.

We attended the RAAF Ball on 23 June with a few of the 2018 entrants. It was a great night out with incredible food and the amazing Australian Kapooka Army Bank in attendance who provided some awesome tunes!

On 24 June Sarah attended Refugee Week celebrations at Henschke Hall. She had the pleasure of meeting many new Wagga residents which included people from African countries such as, Burma, Iraq and Syria. She also joined in Yazidi dancing!! Wagga Wagga is such a multicultural city; it is great to see Wagga’s citizens embracing the diversity and culture that the refugees can provide to our home town.

The Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust held their annual pink and black ball on 24 June. The ball raises awareness and funds for much needed specialised care nurses for Wagga Wagga. Sarah, along with entrants Aley and Katharine were in attendance and assisted guests to their seats, ran the raffle and collected donations. The night was another incredible success with a speech from a melanoma patient and entertainment by The Mighty Yak. Congratulations to Annette St Clair and her amazing team for another fantastic event.

As we look forward to the next few months, our diaries are already filling up with a variety of different events and occasions to attend. Over the next two months we will be finalising the details of our trip to our sister city, Leavenworth, USA. We are both getting more and more excited for the trip and will be trying to pack in as much as we possibly can before we depart on 5 September.

In the meantime, if you wish for us to be involved at any events please contact us via the Miss Wagga Wagga Quest Facebook page or email [email protected]
