March has been a whirlwind of fundraising and fun as both Sarah and Jes prepare to grace the stage for Thomas Bros Wagga Takes Two this April.

To kick off the month, Sarah was invited to the Pacer’s Cup to judge Fashions on the Field trackside. Alongside the ladies and gents, the toughest competition was in the line-up of kids, who were early adopters of racewear! The next day we were both making steak sandwiches and coffees in bulk, helping out in the canteen for Wagga Poultry Club’s meet. Proceeds were split between Sarah’s charity – the Wagga Women’s Health Centre, and Jes’ charity the Specialist Medical Resources Foundation. We also appeared on Hit93.1 Riverina and Triple M with our Takes Two singing partners to talk about our charities and their wonderful community work.

Sarah spoke at the Commonwealth Bank’s International Women’s Day event, talking about opportunities for women in regional cities and how women adapt to challenges in business. She also held a ‘Lunch en Blanc’, or white themed garden party fundraiser, in the stunning surrounds of Kimo Estate. The following week Sarah hosted a Women’s Self Defence and Personal Safety class at the RSL Club. David Bardos and his team from Aikido Wagga presented the very informative, practical and empowering session. We hope we never need to use those skills but know we’ll be better equipped to handle a dangerous situation. Indian food lovers also took part in Sarah’s Bollywood Banquet at the Indian Tavern, dressing up in bejewelled sarees and really getting into the spirit.

Jes had the pleasure of handing out her first Community Princess Foundation grant to the superb bowlers from the Saturday Morning Tenpin Bowling League. She witnessed some amazing skills from some of Wagga’s finest bowlers and presented them with the grant which will be used for bowling towels and water bottles for the group. Jes hosted the premiere screening of Beauty in the Beast as one of her Wagga Takes Two events – a great turnout and we do recommend the absolutely amazing film! Trivia buffs put their heads together for Jes’ trvia night, getting into costume at the Henschke Hall. There was everything from drag queens to people in pajamas! Her next event is a Monster Garage Sale coming up on the 9th April.

Sarah was a judge for the local round of ‘Class Clowns’, a branch of the Melbourne International Comedy Fest for teenagers keen on comedy. She was very impressed with the bravery and creativity of the young men who got up on the microphone at Wagga’s Civic Theatre. Sarah also graced the catwalk for the Op Shop Spectacular, and came third overall with her picnic outfit, evening gown and 1960’s inspired party outfit (round rimmed sunglasses and mini skirt included!). It was held in one of Wagga’s most stunning gardens, and a beautiful event hosted by the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Sunrise. We both took part in the Henschke School Fete, manning the giant inflatable slippery dip! It was lovely to chat with all the little ones as they lined up and be part of such a wonderful family-centered event.

April is set to be a HUGE month as our fundraising comes to a close and we sing our hearts out in Wagga Takes Two! See you on stage!
MWW & CP xx
